MARIA SCARINGI, M.S., SLP(C), REG CASLPO, RRP, CCC-SLP, CI, ICCCP(F) I am a Registered Speech-Language Pathologist in the Province of Ontario, a Certified Canadian Life Care Planner, a Registered Rehabilitation Professional and a Communication Intermediary within the justice system. Following completion of my Graduate Studies and Clinical Practicum for Certification in Speech-Language Pathology, I worked at the Henderson General Hospital in Hamilton, The Toronto Rehabilitation Centre in Toronto and the Scarborough School Board in Scarborough. In my private practice since 1988, I have maintained a balance between assessment and treatment services for both adults and children. I represented Speech-Language Pathologists at various levels, and advocated and provided education about the profession to the Insurance Industry from 1994-1999. I set the ground for the Insurance Industry concerning the rehabilitation needs of the pediatric population and was the provincial chair of pediatric rehabilitation services from 1994-1999. I served as an expert panel member in developing the Preferred Practice Guidelines for Cognitive Communications for the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario (CASLPO) in 2001, 2002, and 2014. I completed all the coursework for Certification in Life Care Planning in the first Canadian class in 2005. I was a member of the Standard of Practice Advisory Group to develop the Standard of Practice for Life Care Planners for the International Association of Rehabilitation Professionals in 2013-2014. I was a member of the Health Service Provider (HSP) Stakeholder Advisory Committee (SAC) appointed by the Financial Services Regulatory Authority of Ontario (FSRA) from 2019 to 2022. I was a Speech- Language Pathologist (SLP) appointed by Speech-language & Audiology Canada (SAC) to the SLP Private Practice Working Group from 2022 to present to address the issues in private practice across Canada. I was also a Speech-Language Pathologist appointed by SAC to work on the scope of practice for SLPs. My work for independent medical examinations addresses speech, language and cognitive communication issues in children and adults. I also complete expert reports for medicolegal purposes and life care plans for both children and adults.Company
