MARIA SCARINGI, M.S., SLP (C), REG CASLPO, RRP, CCC-SLP, CCLCP ( SPEECH PATHOLOGY, LIFE CARE PLANNING) Maria Scaringi is a Registered Speech-Language Pathologist in the Province of Ontario, a Certified Canadian Life Care Planner, a registered Rehabilitation Professional and a Clinical Instructor. In her private practice, Maria provides assessment and treatment services for both adults and children. Here are some highlights based on her areas of expertise: • 20+ years of providing independent medical legal assessments and expert reports and/or expert testimony for the courts, as a Speech-Language Pathologist and Certified Canadian Life Care Planner; • Since 1980 Maria has been providing Speech and Language clinical rehabilitation services related to cognitive communication, literacy, memory and executive function impairments as a consequence of traumatic brain injury; • Represented Speech-Language Pathologists (OSLA) in the 90s to advocate about her profession, scope of practice, role, assessment and therapy interventions and outcomes for clients who sustained mild, moderate or severe neurological injuries after a motor vehicle, bicycle or pedestrian accident; • Presentations and lectures to the auto insurance industry and professional associations since 1992 to address services and needs for the pediatric population to be different from the adult models. • Her experience in rehabilitation began in 1980 while interning as a graduate student in Speech Pathology at Harmarville Rehabilitation Centre, Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, USA; • Contributed to the Standards of Practice for Life Care Planners, 3rd edition, 2014 for International Academy of Life Care Planners, the Life Care Planning Section of the International Association of Rehabilitation Professionals and a member of Standards of Practice Advisory Group 2013 – 2014. • As an Expert Panel member, she contributed to the Preferred Practice Guideline for Cognitive- Communication Disorders, CASLPO, 2001/2002 • 20+ years of experience in the provision of Comprehensive Rehabilitation Case Management and Life Care Planning services for both children and adults; Competent in English, French, Italian and Spanish Some of the conditions that are most commonly seen in Maria’s practice include spinal cord injury, and bodily injuries involving the brain, kidneys, cochlear system, arm/shoulder, vocal cords and orofacial myology.
