This case involves a nurse who was misdiagnosed with breast cancer. What was a malignant tumor was actually diagnosed as a benign tumor. To further complicate the matter, the patient was not notified of the error until the cancer had metastasized to stage 4 cancer. A Certified Life Care Planner™ was retained by plaintiff counsel to document what her medical needs would be to maintain her comfort and pre-diagnosis lifestyle as the plaintiff proceeded with a medical malpractice law suit.
This case is ongoing and therefore, no further information can be provided. Only after the case is settled can further comment be made by the ICHCC™, and only then with the permission of the plaintiff. We will keep you posted as to the outcome of this case as we receive the information, the notification that it has settled, and the permission of the plaintiff to report details of the complaint and the resulting decision of the Ethical Review Board.
